CAMPINAS, Brazil – Continuing its growth in Brazil, Aviagen® Latin America announces the acquisition of a grandparent chicken farm in Caçador, Santa Catarina (SC), dedicated to producing parent stock. With a production capacity of 4.3 million breeders per year, the previously leased facility is already a key part of the company's operations.
The R$70 million (~$12 million USD) investment in the full acquisition consolidates Aviagen's production network in Latin America, strengthening logistics and increasing the supply of high-quality breeding stock for the poultry sector.
Aviagen's president, Ivan Pupo Lauandos, highlights that this acquisition reaffirms the company's confidence in the potential of Brazilian poultry farming: “The farm’s strategic location in southern Brazil is ideal for efficient logistics to our hatchery in Carambeí, Paraná. It also ensures a steady supply of breeding stock, particularly for customers in the south – where approximately 60% of the country’s parent stock is produced. Additionally, the acquisition enhances the agility and security of breeding stock distribution across Brazil and other South American markets.”
Aviagen plans to invest significantly in technology to modernize the farm, incorporating sustainability practices already established in the company’s other units.
“Our dedication to supporting our customers is at the core of everything we do. The acquisition and planned investments in the Caçador farm aim to further enhance the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of our production,” said Leandro München, the company’s operations director.
With operations across multiple states, Aviagen’s production structure ensures flexibility and supply security. “Beyond the South, we have facilities in the Southeast, Midwest, and North of Brazil, enhancing our ability to adapt and respond to market demands, particularly in addressing regional health requirements,” added Leandro München.
The investment in the Caçador farm reflects our commitment to excellence and timely customer service. “This new phase of our expansion will further fortify the supply of quality, reliable breeding stock to our customers, supporting the growth and sustainability of poultry farming in Latin America,” Lauandos concluded.
